Catching Up, part 1

What did you end up doing for Samhain? Would you have wanted to do different? Would you want us, as a group, to work on Sabbat rituals and what not to help with ideas?

I did almost as I have done in years past though this year Kore was not home with us so it was a little strange. We lit a fire outside and sacrificed some of the evening meal to it and threw in some marshmallows too. Ate marshmallows. Drank a toast and then lit the smudge stick from the fire and brought it into the house. We swept each room with the broomstick and "doused" all the windows and doors in the room with the smudge stick after the negativity had been swept from the room, gradually we pledged each room in turn cleansed then swept all the negativity out of the front door before cleansing and sealing it too.

What is your favorite incense? describe the smell if folks aren't familiar with it (IE: flowery, musky, sweet, string....etc.)

I really don't know that I have a favorite. I don't use incense all that much. We have been making some bundles for our store and I do like putting jasmine in them. The first one I made was lavender, rose and jasmine.

Is there a particular piece of jewelry or item that draws you? Or something you've noticed you've worn a lot without realizing? Have you looked into other meanings it might hold?

For a long time I wore the rune Laguz. http://www.guide-to-symbols.com/_images_futhark1/Runic_letter_laukaz.jpg which is associated with water and the feminine. I no longer feel that connected to it. Previous to that I wore a pentacle and an ankh a lot and in the end I had them tattooed on me. If a symbol draws that much power for me that's what I try to do. I'm on a quest now to find another rune which I connect to that's one of my pledges for the new year.

I'll catch up on the more recent things later on today :)

Two Fast Book Reviews

So in an effort to reconnect with my wayward spirituality I decided to poke around bn.com and find some books since I no longer have my old ones sadly.

The first book I read was the Idiot's Guide to Wicca and Witchcraft. Overall not a bad read it's about the same as most started books with all the usual info. What I enjoyed the most was the books suggestions on when and how to properly call elements, dragons
, spirits and Fae.

The second book and by far the best I have every read is The Circle Within: Creating a Wiccian Spiritual Tradition By Dianne Sylvan. This is the book I was searching for, it was focused on the spirituality instead of magic and everything else. I was so moved by her words in this book that I actually shed tears because it touched me that much. Even if your not Wiccan it's still very much worth a read. i really can't describe it all I can say is read it!

Witchery-Night Goddess

dusktodawn

Welcome one and all!

Brushing past hanging vines, you come into a brightly lit grotto. A water fountain and small pond gurgling happily. Beside it, a beautiful maiden dips her toes into the pool, smiling, she looks up at you, her fingers laying gently on the harp strings, she begins to play.

You've come seeking peace.

Your heart seeks knowledge.

And in her, you know she will guide you through.

Before long you notice others, slowly, they walk into the grotto. None of them the same, but all yearning for one thing....

magick...

The Orcales Song brings you there.
